I once again asked Kate Miss to photograph the latest ERMIE collection. I thought it would be an especially fun shoot, as Kate and Laure (one of the models, and a fantastic photographer in her own right), are good friends. I'm so proud of the work Kate has done for me in the past, and I feel that tenfold with her latest efforts...these are some of the digital shots Kate took...Pretty Stunning if I do say so myself. I am very excited to see the photographs that she took on film!

So: I hope to have part of the collection up online tomorrow, Dec. 24th, by the end of the day. My Holiday Gift to you... Free Shipping on Orders placed before Dec. 31st, Domestic and International!

I'll have Cheryl Cambras' Sweaters, some of Bari Ziperstein's Jewelry, and Deb Baxter's creations for sale first, along with a couple of my garments. The full collection will be available after the New Year, after we receive the film shots of the collection back from processing.

I'll post here, and on Instagram, to let you know when the store is officially open again :)

It was our last day in Japan. It was chilly, raining. Perfect weather for taking a stroll in the woods... grey skies set off Autumn colors so well.
We arrived at our destination- the Kanaz Forest of Creation in Fukui City in western Japan.
The Forest of Creation is a sculpture park, with winding paths, wooded areas, ponds and streams. The trees and their colors did not disappoint!
The grounds of the Forest house a small museum that exhibits contemporary art. Classes are also offered, including indigo dyeing, weaving, glass blowing and ceramics.
There are artists in residence at the Forest, and we had the good fortune and pleasure to meet one of them, Katsuhiko Matsui, a ceramicist who specializes in Echizen Ware
Above are some photographs of Matsui-san's wood fired kiln as well as his work in his beautiful studio. It was far too tempting not to bring home some of his pottery. We purchased a few small cups and plates...which we are now enjoying immensely back at home in L.A. The perfect souvenirs to remind us of our travels in Japan.

More images of our visit to Katsuhiko Matsui's studio and the Kanaz Forest of Creation may be seen on my Instagram.

Some of my favorite experiences from my Japan trip were my visits to and happenings upon a handful of the many Shinto shrines existing in the city and the country side. We were very fortunate to be allowed to take photographs in one, the Setagaya Hachimangu Shrine, during Satoko's and Alex's traditional Shinto wedding ceremony- an opportunity that is extremely rare.

I could not get enough of the beautiful torii, shimenawa, and shide...

The last photograph above is of a shrine located near the ryokan in which we stayed in Kaga City. We were informed by a guide that the tree photographed here is over 2,000 years old!
